Cheryl & Shea Bailey of Yellow Umbrella Events, a destination wedding event company, have been amazing with helping us with all the booking details. They have worked to secure a group rate with the resort and will be helping all of our guests book their travel accommodations for our wedding on Thursday, May 5th, 2022.

The room categories listed above were selected by Erica & Jake for their contracted room block. There are only a certain number of rooms available and are on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Trip Deposit & Payment Schedule
- A payment of 50% of your total reservation is all you need to reserve your room. This is non-refundable once paid.
- Tuesday, March 22nd, 2022 is the deadline to get an available room in the room block. Any reservations requested after that date are based on availability and not guaranteed.
- Full payment of your trip is due by Tuesday, March 22nd, 2022.
- Additional payments towards your balance can be made at any time (monthly) by contacting Shea before the final payment is due.
- We’ll need your flight info by Monday, March 7th, 2022. You can send that to me by filling out the form on this page.

- We understand that most guests selected to depart on May 8th when they filled out the previous reservation form. You can still select to depart on May 8th now but we have to request it from the resort first. Please know that it may take a few extra days to confirm your reservation.
- There is a 3-night minimum for this room block but you have the option to arrive early or stay later. You can select your dates when you fill out the reservation form.

Travel Protection
**If you have any questions about the insurance please give Travel Insured a call at 1-800-243-3174. We (Yellow Umbrella Events) are not a licensed insurance company and can not legally answer any insurance-related questions.**
FYI, not purchasing travel protection could result in the loss of your travel cost and/or require more money to correct the situation. Without protection, there may be no way to recoup any losses, costs, or expenses incurred and the price of Travel Protection IS NOT included in the price of the room selections and is non-refundable once purchased.
Having travel protection is definitely important and I recommend it for everyone. We personally buy it for our trips. However, the option to purchase travel insurance is solely up to you and you may purchase it through any insurance company you would like.

This website (Travel Insured) offers a very comprehensive policy called the “Worldwide Trip Protector” plan with optional add-ons like CFAR (Cancel For Any Reason), Optional Bed Rest which helps cover onsite quarantine expenses, and other add-on options. Travel Insured is the insurance company we personally use and suggest to others but you are welcome to purchase travel insurance through any entity that you choose.
If you want the CFAR (Cancel for Any Reason) benefit you will have to add it to the policy and you must purchase the insurance no later than 21 days from the day you make your initial payment. FYI, CFAR is not available for New York State residents.
When you click on the link you will need to answer a few questions about your trip and then you’ll be redirected to a page with the policy information and pricing.
The basic “Worldwide Trip Protector” plan, which does not include the CFAR or Optional Bed Rest options, can be purchased at any time, including after 21 days from the time you paid your initial payment but it will not cover the Pre-Existing Condition Exclusion Waiver or the Bankruptcy/Default of an airline, cruise line, tour operator or other travel providers. However, you can still cancel for a covered reason and potentially get up to a 100% refund as long as it’s a covered reason.
Depending on what you select and the reason for canceling, travel insurance may cover between 75% – 100% of your trip cancellation and many other things like unexpected medical expenses, baggage, and flight delays.

Round-Trip Ground Transportation
**Very Important Information – Please Read Carefully**
The ground transportation from the airport to the resort and back to the airport is not included in the room rates listed below. However, we can arrange your transportation when you make your reservation. You just need to select that option when you fill out the reservation form.
This is a private nonstop group transfer, meaning only guests of your particular group movement who are arriving or departing on the same flight or close to the same time may be placed in the vehicle together.
The cost for round-trip transportation is $40 per person.
If you select to add the ground transportation we will send you a separate invoice via email for $40 per person. You will have to authorize payment through the invoice before we can arrange your transportation.

Reservation Cancellation Policy
If you cancel your reservation by March 22nd, 2022 you are responsible for 50% of your room total plus the $100 per person cancellation fee. If you have travel insurance you can file a claim to get a refund based on their terms.
If you cancel your reservation on or after March 23rd, 2022, you are responsible for 100% of your room total plus the $100 per person cancellation fee. If you have travel insurance you can file a claim to get a refund based on their terms.
Yellow Umbrella Events is not an agent of the Hotel and has no control over refund policies and other rules mandated by the Hotel.
If you do not purchase the travel insurance and have to cancel your reservation you may still have to pay a partial penalty up to the full amount of your reservation plus the $100 per person cancellation fee.
If you purchased the travel insurance and have to cancel you will be refunded the amount according to the travel insurance guidelines minus the cost of the non-refundable insurance, but you are still responsible for the $100 per person cancellation fee
To be considered a part of Erica & Jake’s Wedding Group, you must book through this group room block and not through any other method (even directly with the hotel). The couple has secured a room block to make this as easy as possible. To participate in all of the wedding-related activities, you must stay at Mahekal Beach Resort as part of the wedding group.

Can I use a different credit card to make additional payments?
Yes. All you need to do is fill out the form on this page. As soon as we receive the information we’ll make the payment and email you the receipt.
Can my roommate(s) pay for their portion of the room on a separate card or does it have to be all on one card?
Yes, they can pay using a different credit card. However, when you fill out the reservation form it will only allow you to add 1 credit card. If they want to use their own credit card, all you need to do is add a note in the “Additional Information” section at the bottom of the reservation form and tell us who will be using another credit card. You can then submit their credit card info to us by filling out the form on this page.
Can I make additional payments before the final payment date?
Yes, you can make additional payments at any time. Just send us an email telling us how much you want to pay and if we should use the credit card I have on file for you. If you want to use a different credit card you can send it to us by filling out the form on this page.
Can I set up a payment schedule?
Yes. Just email us with how much you want to pay, what credit card to use, and on what dates you want me to make the payments.
I filled out the reservation form but I didn’t get an immediate confirmation.
When you fill out the reservation form it does not automatically make your reservation or charge your credit card. The information is sent to us so we can review it first. If we have any questions we will reach out to you for verification. As long as everything looks good we will make the reservation and email you a receipt showing the payment and another email with information about your reservation. FYI, If you fill out the form after business hours (5:00 pm CST) or over the weekend it may be the next day before you receive a confirmation.
Can I add someone else to my room after I’ve made my reservation?
Yes, you can always add a person to your room after your reservation has been made as long as it doesn’t go above the room occupancy limit. If you’re waiting to make a reservation because you’re not sure if someone will be with you in the room, we suggest you go ahead and secure your reservation now and then add them later.
The other person in my room can’t make it. Can I switch them with someone else?
Yes. Just send us an email with the name of the guest to be removed along with the name (as it appears on their passport) of the new guest, their birthday, and email address. Once we have this information we’ll make the adjustment. If you are just switching guests the $100 cancellation fee is not charged to the person being removed from the reservation.
I can’t make it to the wedding and need to cancel my reservation. What do I do now?
First, send us an email (we have to have it in writing) letting us know you need to cancel your reservation. We will then email you a link so you can make the $100 per person cancellation fee payment. Once this has been paid we will request the room cancellation.
If you purchased the travel insurance and have to cancel you will be refunded the amount according to the travel insurance guidelines minus the cost of the insurance, but you are still responsible for the $100 per person cancellation fee.
If you did not purchase the travel insurance, you may still be responsible for additional fees above and beyond the $100 per person cancellation fee which could possibly include the full amount of the room reservation.
I don’t see a way to RSVP on the website. How can I do this?
There is no official way of doing this through our website. Most people contact the wedding couple directly and let them know. However, we do keep a list of people who have already made a room reservation so I can send an update to the wedding couple.
Will everyone in our group have rooms next to each other?
No, not necessarily. This will depend on a few factors like the type of room category each person books and how full the resort is at the time of the event.
Can I request a room next to someone else?
When you make your reservation you can send the request to us in the “Additional Information” section at the bottom of the reservation form and we will pass it along to the resort. They will do whatever they can to honor your request but it is not guaranteed.
Do I need to take electrical converters?
No. Mexico has the same electrical outlets as we do in the U.S.

COCINA

ITZI POOL BAR
This inviting watering hole, with a swim-up bar from Itzi Pool, is family-friendly, and known for its casual lunch fare, mid-afternoon snacks, and refreshing cocktails. Our infamous swings are just at the edge of the bar.
ICE CREAM CORNER
Located beside the Boutique, our Ice Cream Corner serves homemade helado (ice cream), as well as coffee, beverages, and other sweet treats.
THE SANDBOX
The best place for an afternoon of lounging and enjoying the beach! The Sandbox is located in front of Fuego Restaurante y Cantina, and offers comfy cushions for lounge seating, hammocks, and our new Bali-Beds – and of course, you can enjoy a handcrafted cocktail.
