We are so excited to be able to share our upcoming Wedding with you at the Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya (Adults-Only, 18+) in Mexico. Your presence at our wedding means the world to us.

Cheryl & Shea Bailey, of Yellow Umbrella Events, a destination wedding event company, helped us with all the booking details. They have worked to secure a group rate with the resort and will be helping you book your travel accommodations for our wedding on Saturday, May 6th, 2023.

Ideally located in the heart of the Riviera Maya along the famed white-sand Akumal beach, this all-inclusive resort fuses elegant and original design with elements of nature. With a Mayan name meaning “place of the turtle,” this AAA Four Diamond resort is renowned for its beautiful beach, calm Caribbean waters and green sea turtle population – making it an oasis for snorkeling, kayaking, and other resort activities. Trip Deposit & Payment Schedule

  • A payment equal to 50% of your room total is all you need to reserve your room.
  • Monday, December 12th, 2022, is the deadline to get an available room in the room block. Any reservations requested after that date have to be requested with the resort. Room availability and contracted rates are not guaranteed.
  • Full payment of your trip is due by Tuesday, February 14th, 2023 (The resort reserves the right to cancel the reservation if payment is not made by this date).
  • You are responsible for booking your own flights and transportation but we still need your flight info by Monday, March 6th‎, ‎2023 to give to the resort so they know what time you will arrive. You can send that to me by filling out the form on this page.
  • Additional payments towards your balance can be made at any time (monthly) by contacting Shea before the final payment is due.

  • There is a 3-night minimum for this room block but you have the option to arrive early or stay later. You can select your dates when you fill out the reservation form and I will check with the resort to ensure availability.

FYI, not purchasing travel insurance could result in the loss of your travel cost and/or require more money to correct the situation. Without travel insurance, there may be no way to recoup any losses, costs, or expenses incurred. The price of Travel Insurance is NOT included in the price of the room selections and is non-refundable once purchased.

Having travel insurance is definitely important and we recommend it for everyone. We personally buy it for our trips. However, the option to purchase travel insurance is solely up to you and you may purchase it through any insurance company you would like.

This website (Travel Insured) offers a policy called the “Worldwide Trip Protector” plan with optional add-ons like CFAR (Cancel For Any Reason), Optional Bed Rest (which can help cover onsite quarantine expenses), and other add-on options. Travel Insured is the insurance company we personally use and suggest to others but you are welcome to purchase travel insurance through any entity that you choose.

If you want the CFAR (Cancel for Any Reason) benefit you will have to add it to the policy and you must purchase the insurance no later than 21 days from the day you make your initial payment. Unfortunately, CFAR is not available for New York State residents.

When you click on the link you will need to answer a few questions about your trip and then you’ll be redirected to a page with the policy information and pricing.

The basic “Worldwide Trip Protector” plan, which does NOT include the CFAR or Optional Bed Rest options, can be purchased at any time, including after 21 days from the time you paid your initial payment but it will not cover the Pre-Existing Condition Exclusion Waiver or the Bankruptcy/Default of an airline, cruise line, tour operator or other travel providers. However, you can still cancel for a covered reason and potentially get up to a 100% refund as long as it’s a covered reason.

Depending on what you select and the reason for canceling, travel insurance may cover between 75% – 100% of your trip cancellation and many other things like unexpected medical expenses, baggage, and flight delays.

We strongly suggest that you call them and verify what the policy covers if you have any questions. You can reach an insurance agent at 1-800-243-3174.

Ground Transportation to the Resort

  • Ground transportation to the resort and back to the airport is not included in the prices listed below. However, you can add them on your own by clicking on the button below.
  • Any updates to your flight info or any needed changes to the transfers must be updated directly with Project Expedition at 855-782-3006. Yellow Umbrella Events does not have access to make any changes or updates.
  • Before booking your transportation you must have your flight information first.
  • You do not have to book your transportation through this company (Project Expedition). You are welcome to make arrangements with any transportation company you choose.

BOOKING INFORMATION

*Very Important – Please Read*

Reservation Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your reservation by December 12th, 2022, you are only responsible for the $100 per person cancellation fee. 

If you cancel your reservation between December 13th, 2022, and February 13th, 2023, you will be responsible for 30% of your room. Also, if you reduce the number of nights in your reservation you will be responsible for 50% of the nights reduced. If you have travel insurance you can file a claim to get a refund based on their terms.

If you cancel your reservation or reduce the number of nights in your reservation on or after February 14th, 2023, you are responsible for 100% of your room total. If you have travel insurance you can file a claim to get a refund based on their terms.

Additionally, the resort will not allow the following modifications/changes to your reservation on or after February 14th, 2023:

  • Downgrading a room category
  • Decreasing the number of nights in your reservation
  • Removing a guest from your reservation (reducing the occupancy level in your room)

This resort will not allow any changes, including name changes, to your reservation after April 11th, 2023.

What can you do with your reservation between February 14th and April 11th??

  • Upgrade your room category, if an upgraded room category is available.
  • Add extra nights, if additional nights are available.
  • Add an additional guest or make a name change.
  • Switching names on a reservation to a different guest.

The resort will not provide a credit or voucher for future travel if you do not travel on the dates selected for this reservation.

Yellow Umbrella Events is not an agent of the Hotel and has no control over refund policies and other rules mandated by the Hotel.

 

If you do not purchase travel insurance and choose to cancel your reservation you may still have to pay a partial penalty up to the full amount of your reservation plus the $100 per person cancellation fee.

If you purchased the travel insurance and choose to cancel you will be refunded by the travel insurance company according to the travel insurance guidelines minus the cost of the non-refundable insurance, but you are still responsible for the $100 per person cancellation fee.

Once a reservation is booked there is a $100 per person cancellation fee with no regard to the reason for the cancellation. This cancellation fee also applies to all cancellations that result in a re-booking.

 

To be considered a part of Samantha & Samuel’s Wedding Group, you must book through this group room block and not through any other method (even directly with the hotel).

Where can I find their Wedding Website & bridal registry?
We do not currently have this information. Please reach out to Samantha & Samuel to see if they have a personal wedding website & bridal registry.

 

Can I use a different credit card to make additional payments?
Yes. All you need to do is fill out the form on this page. As soon as I receive the information I’ll make the payment and email you the receipt.

 

Can my roommate(s) pay for their portion of the room on a separate card or does it have to be all on one card?
Yes, they can pay using a different credit card. However, when you fill out the reservation form it will only allow you to add 1 credit card. If they want to use their own credit card all you need to do is add a note in the “Additional Information” section at the bottom of the reservation form and tell me who will be using another credit card. You can then submit their credit card info to me by filling out the form on this page.

 

Can I make additional payments before the final payment date?
Yes, you can make additional payments at any time. Just send me an email telling me how much you want to pay and if I should use the credit card I have on file for you. If you want to use a different credit card you can send it to me by filling out the form on this page.

 

Can I set up a payment schedule?
Yes. Just email me with how much you want to pay, what credit card to use, and on what dates you want me to make the payments.

 

I filled out the reservation form but I didn’t get an immediate confirmation.
When you fill out the reservation form it does not automatically make your reservation or charge your credit card. The information is sent to me so I can review it first. If I have any questions I will reach out to you for verification. As long as everything looks good I will make the reservation and email you a receipt showing the payment and another email with information about your reservation. FYI, If you fill out the form after business hours (5:00 pm CST) or over the weekend it may be the next day before you receive a confirmation.

 

Can I add someone else to my room after I’ve made my reservation?
Yes, you can always add a person to your room after your reservation has been made as long as it doesn’t go above the room occupancy limit. If you’re waiting to make a reservation because you’re not sure if someone will be with you in the room, I suggest you go ahead and secure your reservation now and then add them later.

 

The other person in my room can’t make it. Can I switch them with someone else?
Yes. Just send me an email with the name of the guest to be removed along with the name (as it appears on their passport) of the new guest, their birthday, and email address. Once I have this information I’ll make the adjustment. If you are just switching guests the $100 cancellation fee is not charged to the person being removed from the reservation.

 

I can’t make it to the wedding and need to cancel my reservation. What do I do now?
First, send me an email (I have to have it in writing) letting me know you need to cancel your reservation. I will then email you a link so you can make the $100 per person cancellation fee payment. Once this has been paid I will request the room cancellation.

If you purchased the travel insurance and have to cancel you will be refunded the amount according to the travel insurance guidelines minus the cost of the insurance, but you are still responsible for the $100 per person cancellation fee.

If you did not purchase the travel insurance you may still be responsible for additional fees above and beyond the $100 per person cancellation fee which could possibly include the full amount of the room reservation.

 

Will everyone in our group have rooms next to each other?
No, not necessarily. This will depend on a few factors like the type of room category each person books and how full the resort is at the time of the event.

 

Can I request a room next to someone else?
When you make your reservation you can send the request to me in the “Additional Information” section at the bottom of the reservation form and I will pass it along to the resort. They will do whatever they can to honor your request but it is not guaranteed.

 

Does the transportation company have a car seat for my baby?
If you need a car seat please let me know so I can request it from the transportation company. It will be approximately $25 – $35 each way and you will have to pay the drive in cash when you arrive.

 

Do I need to take electrical converters to plugin?
No. Mexico has the same electrical outlets as we do in the U.S.
