Wedding review 10/8/21: I hope this is helpful for future brides!
Room: Junior Suite. SO WORTH EVERY PENNY. The room and views were amazing. We literally had zero stress the entire week because the butlers helped us with any little thing we needed. Whether it was needing restocks of something in the room, bringing us our covid tests printed out, making reservations, etc…And they were just so nice and lovely. Also, the room is so big and helped a TON to be able to have a place for everyone to hang. We did get a little too rowdy in there on the actual night of the wedding and got kicked out but it was totally our fault for being super loud lol. Oh and another bonus, you get a free massage (which saves money if you plan to use the spa), and you also have private transportation and private check in. Our check in process lasted like 2 minutes.
Wedding Coordinator: Medelin. She was so sweet and amazing. Once our wedding was a week out we started communicating every day through Whatsapp. She made everything super organized and escorted our guests to all the events, even the welcome cocktail party. Honestly she is so lovely and helpful it was just perfect.
Welcome cocktail party: Hotel Xcaret Mexico Playon Viento. Perfect location! Very pretty and there’s a bar there too that made things easy. The bar also had a little bit of cover which worked out perfectly because that was the one time that it rained for like 10 minutes and we were able to scoot under.
Wedding Day: Ceremony Caleta Fuego, Reception: Cuevas Kayak. These locations were SO BEAUTIFUL I can’t even describe it. Very intimate settings. I’m so glad that the ballroom got shut down so that I made these choices! They’re so unique. The only thing that was tough at Caleta Fuego is that the sun was shining on me and I was already so hot, we were kind of dripping in sweat during the ceremony.
Wedding makeup/hair: Sara Tamargo. AMAZING. Loved them so much. Very talented. They were on time, efficient and super sweet.
Photographer/Videographer: Jhankarlo. They were a dream to work with. So sweet! I can’t wait to see the photos.
DJ: Plugin Audio Visual. We paid extra for this company because I was dying to have the disco balls that have the actual glitter effect. It was so cool and totally worth it. The DJ was so good although he did stray from my list slightly but once we told him to go back he did and it was awesome. Their communication prior to the wedding was phenomenal. There’s an app they use where you can choose all of your songs in advance. If you don’t care too much about disco balls, you cold probably just use the hotel’s DJ since everyone says they are great.
Floral Decor: Canteiro. I love this company so much. I barely had to come up with any ideas because I showed them a photo and they knew exactly what I wanted. Amazing communication. The decor was mind blowing and couldn’t have been more perfect.
Food: All of my guests loved the food and I wish I could say more about it but the truth is I barely ate anything there was so much going on! I don’t have a lot of feedback on the food unfortunately. If I could go back in time I would try to eat more lol.
Only regrets: If I could change anything, I would have worn my hair up. That was a huge mistake. The sweat was annoying the shit out of me and kind of distracting. After the ceremony I decided to go back to the room to put it up, but that actually made it worse because the rooms are so far away I just got even more hot. What I would recommend to all brides is to never plan to go back to the room for anything, even if you’re doing an outfit change. I wish I had brought everything with me and just touched up or changed in the closest bathroom. Everything goes by so fast even being gone for 20 minutes feels like you missed out on something. Plus, the walking will make you hotter. Just my two cents. But that is literally my only regret so I guess that’s not so bad! Everything else was perfect. Oh well actually one more thing…The dinner took a lot longer than expected. They didn’t start the speeches until 8:30pm and I wanted to be dancing by then. So I started bugging them to let us do the speeches and go dance. Once I did that they finally listened, but if I hadn’t said anything we’d prob. be sitting a lot longer.
Lastly, Cheryl and Shea from Yellow Umbrella Events. This wedding would not have been as perfect without all of the work they put in with our guests. My guests had TONS of questions and changes, and they made it all happen and the whole process was just so smooth. I can’t imagine what things would have been like if my guests had been trying to communicate with the resort directly.
And that’s all folks! Enjoy the time because it will go by so fast. Hotel Xcaret is a magical place and I can’t wait to go back. PS – We didn’t do any parks and I’m SO GLAD that we had freedom to just chill and do whatever. But of course if you’re into the idea of doing parks, make sure you plan plenty of chill time! There’s so much to do on the resort and you’ll want to explore it
