Welcome to Yellow Umbrella Events’ Isla Mujeres Palace Wedding Guide. Isla Mujeres Palace is our favorite adults only all-inclusive resort on the island of Isla Mujeres and we think it’s absolutely perfect for destination weddings.

With only 62 rooms, an on-site spa, 2 al a carte restaurants (one that rotates cuisines nightly), and a private speed boat service that takes you right to the property, this resort is ideal for those couples that want a more personalized boutique style experience for their destination wedding. Due to the resort’s lower room count even small wedding and social groups feel like they own the whole resort for the weekend!

Outdoor Locations:

Isla Mujeres Beach Reception at Night


The white sand beach is perfect for all kinds of events – from ceremonies to receptions and even rehearsal dinners and general beach parties. The beach chairs and items you see during the day will be moved for your event. Your view is of the ocean and the great boardwalk to the side.

Covered locations (Indoor/Outdoor):

The Upper Terrace is a covered location that is still considered outdoors, since it’s a fully open space on the sides.  I really love having a brunch or luncheon in this area, since it’s covered from the direct sun. It also makes a great back up location for a wedding, since you would still be able to have an outdoor wedding, but it’s completely covered from the rain and elements. It also has a great ocean view.

**Insider Tip – This is not the only terrace available for an event. There are several terraces available around the property, that make ideal covered event locations! Depending on the other terraces you choose, you can have a pool view, a pool and ocean view, or a full ocean front view.



Indoor Locations:

This is the only fully indoor air-conditioned space that can host an event at Isla Mujeres Palace. It’s ideal for those that want a cool air-conditioned dining experience or maybe an air-conditioned space for dancing. It can seat up to 80 for dinner, utilizing the entire ballroom space, so you can choose to have your dinner inside this ballroom and the dancing portion of the evening on the Upper Terrace or Beach or you can have your dinner elsewhere and have your DJ and dancing reception in this room. It’s also a great space for smaller functions, like a rehearsal dinner or brunch.

Wedding Package Details

What’s Included in the Wedding Packages? And how much are the wedding packages?

The base wedding ceremony package is $1,000 for up to 30 guests. However, you can earn this ceremony package for FREE when you have 14 or more room nights booked in your wedding group! The wedding ceremony package includes:

  • Ceremony location with white chairs.
  • Dark wood ceremony structure with fabric back and branches on front of ceremony structure.
  • Dark wood ceremony podium and 2 floral spheres for a podium.
  • 20 rose bridal bouquet.
  • 1 rose boutonniere.
  • 1 tier wedding cake.
  • Sparkling wine toast.
  • Ceremony sound system.
  • Add $4 each additional chair over 30 guests.

Do the wedding packages also include tables and chairs?

Yes, the wedding packages include all necessary tables, white folding chairs, and basic white linens for your guest count for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, for up to 30 guests. Ceremonies with more than 30 guests will incur a charge of $4 for each additional ceremony chair needed.


Does Isla Mujeres Palace offer a complimentary ceremony and/or vow renewal option?

Yes! When you reach a total of 14 or more room nights in your wedding room block, Isla Mujeres Palace offers a complimentary wedding ceremony package.

What makes Isla Mujeres Palace special?

Here’s a list of a few of some of the great features of Isla Mujeres Palace:

  • This resort is Adults Only, so no one under 18 is allowed on the property.
  • All rooms have 1 King size bed, with some roll away beds available on site, as requested.
  • There are a maximum of 2 adults allowed per room, which means you won’t have an overcrowded resort.
  • All food, top shelf liquor, and beverages are included in your stay.
  • There are 3 restaurants and 2 Bars:
    • Azul (main restaurant)
    • La Cevicheria
    • Pool swim up bar with food
    • Lobby bar
    • Pool bar
  • 24 hour room service is included, so you can have a meal at 3 in the morning if the mood strikes you.
  • You will enjoy beach side bar service, where the wait staff will bring drinks straight to your lounge chair.
  • A Private speed boat service is available (and included at no additional charge) every day of the week, except Wednesday, and will take you from the ferry in Cancun straight to the dock at the resort, where you’ll be greeted by the bell staff to take your luggage and get you checked into the hotel. (So fun!).
  • A resort credit from $500 to $1,500 is included with all rooms, based on the total nights of stay. The resort credit can be used for things like spa services, fun local excursions (things like Garrafon Park, zipling, or swimming with dolphins), or on site events, like a romantic dinner on the beach.
  • Depending on the number of rooms that your group books in your room block, you can earn a FREE wedding ceremony and FREE private event hours that you can use for cocktail hours, receptions, welcome parties, and more.

How do we get to the resort?

Once you arrive at the Cancun International airport you will take a shuttle or taxi to the Marina Hacienda del Mar. (Side note – there’s a cute little Italian restaurant at this marina that’s the perfect place to grab a bite or a quick drink.) From there a private speed boat will take you directly to the dock at Isla Mujeres Palace.

If for some reason you miss your reservation time or the speed boat service is cancelled for any reason, you will have to take the Ultramar Ferry in Puerto Juarez to Isla Mujeres and then catch a taxi to the resort.

Unfortunately, the cost of the Ferry and taxi is not included in this case and is your responsibility. The approximate cost of the public Ultramar Ferry is (subject to change): One way: $11 USD pp, Roundtrip: $17 USD pp. You can learn more about the Ferry on their site:

The Ultramar Ferry ride takes approximately 20 minutes to reach Isla Mujeres from Puerto Juarez.

Once you step off the ferry, walk into the ferry terminal. At the exit on the left-hand side of the terminal you will find the taxi stop. Guests are responsible for transportation costs to the property (estimated transit time: 15 minutes). Please let the driver know that you will be staying at Isla Mujeres Palace.

How many weddings take place at the resort daily?

The capacity of the resort allows for only 1 wedding on the same day.


Can we get married on the beach? By the pool? In an air-conditioned ballroom?

Yes! There are a few options to choose from for ceremony and reception options at Isla Mujeres Palace.


Is there a Catholic Chapel on site?

No, there is not a Catholic chapel available at this property.


How do we book our wedding at Isla Mujeres Palace?

Give us a call at 512-902-2743 or email us here and we’ll get started. We’ll help you determine some date options that might work best for you, narrow down your ceremony and reception options, and choose a wedding package that best suits your wants.

Once we have all these details, we’ll connect with the property to confirm. If they have your date available, you can move forward with a wedding contract to confirm your wedding date.

Once you have a signed contract and have paid a deposit to hold your date, we’ll help you with obtaining a rate and concessions on a room block for you and your guests. (There’s no charge for our Resort Selection and Room Block service!)


How much is the wedding deposit?

The resort takes an initial deposit of $250 to hold and confirm your wedding date. If you earn the free ceremony, the $250 will be credited to any wedding extras you purchase. These may include items like flowers, photography, DJ service, additional decor, and more.

Deposits are made by credit card using a payment link. It’s very important that you call your bank or credit card company in advance, to let them know you are about to make this payment, or they are likely to decline the transaction, as it may appear like an unusual purchase.


How far in advance do we need to book our wedding?

There is no set time in advance that you must book your wedding, but due to the fact that this resort only allows 1 wedding per day, and popularity of the resort, they tend to book well on advance, so it’s best to start the planning process as soon as you can to give you the most flexibility on dates, especially if you’d like a weekend date.


Do weddings at Isla Mujeres Palace include all the vendors we’ll need for our wedding?

Yes and No. Isla Mujeres Palace offers wedding packages that include most of what you will need for your wedding but you will find a few vendors missing. You will likely want to add a photographer and videographer, DJ and/or band, possibly rent a dance floor (if you’re having a reception on the beach), and any additional décor that you might want to add.

For these additional vendors, the resort offers what is referred to as “in house” vendors to choose from. You are welcome to use their in-house vendors for all extra wedding services.


What if I don’t want to use the in-house vendors that Isla Mujeres Palace requires?

You are welcome to bring in your own vendors from outside the resorts, both from the local area or internationally for a fee, that varies based on the vendor you choose. This fee is charged per outside vendor.



What time does my wedding reception need to end if it’s on the beach?

All outside events must end by no later than 10 pm.


Can our guests use golf carts to get around the property?

No, due to the size of the size of the resort it’s not necessary to use golf carts for the transportation of the guests. The entire resort is easily accessible by walking. However, you may enjoy renting a golf cart to get around the island throughout your stay. We’ve rented golf carts from Joaquin Rentals multiple times and have enjoyed the use of their carts.



Can my guests stay at another resort but still attend my wedding?

At least 80% of your entire guest count must stay at Isla Mujeres Palace for a minimum of 3 nights. Up to 20% of guests may stay off site but will need to pay a day pass fee of $130 per person to attend the wedding activities.


Is a groom’s suite or a bride’s suite included?

No, there is not a suite provided for getting ready on the wedding day. You are welcome to get ready in your room or rent the ballroom for this, if you have a large group that is getting ready all together.



Salon & Spa Details

This space will only be suitable for about 2 – 3 people to get ready in at once so you’ll want to create a hair and makeup schedule for your wedding party throughout the day. Alternatively, you can have hair and makeup services in your room if you have a small group.

There is not a groom’s lounge, unfortunately. Most of our grooms and their wedding party and friends use one of their guest’s rooms to get ready in.

Do we get a rehearsal time?

Yes, you can have a rehearsal time the day before your wedding ceremony, if you request it. Due to availability, your actual ceremony site may not be available, though, which means you may need to practice in another location. You or your wedding planner will need to be in charge of the running of the rehearsal since the resort weddings staff does not include this in your wedding package.


How far in advance do we need to arrive at the resort before the wedding day?

This depends on if you will have a legal or symbolic ceremony. Legal ceremonies will need to arrive and be on site 4 business days (Saturday & Sunday doesn’t count) before your wedding. Symbolic (or civil) ceremonies have more flexibility and we normally recommend an arrival time of at least 2 days in advance so you can take care of any last minute details and complete your final wedding walkthrough, and still have a little time to relax and enjoy some downtime before the wedding day.


Will we be able to confirm our wedding details with a final walk through, once we arrive on site before our wedding?

Yes, you will meet on site with your assigned Isla Mujeres Palace wedding coordinator a few days before your wedding to finalize all the details. You may add any additional last-minute services at that time as well, but please note that any services that are added last minute are subject to availability.


Does Isla Mujeres Palace offer a complimentary honeymoon package?

Yes. It currently includes the following items: (updated inclusions below)

  • Specialty petit fours
  • Bottle of sparkling wine
  • Complimentary honeymoon dinner at select restaurants
  • Two honeymoon t-shirts
  • Breakfast in bed (upon request)
  • Honeymoon check-in desk
  • Late checkout until 6:00 pm (subject to request and availability)
