A Yellow Umbrella Events Wedding Guide to Hyatt Ziva Cancun
Hyatt Ziva Cancun is one of the most well-rounded resorts we work with for wedding groups, and for good reason. It’s a true all-inclusive resort sitting right on the Caribbean, with venue options that range from a dramatic cliffside gazebo to a rooftop terrace with panoramic ocean views. The packages are highly inclusive, the property is beautiful, and the wedding team knows what they’re doing. Here’s everything you need to know to decide if this is the one.
First - A Smart Way to Start
The Big Day Preview
A 2 night stay for two for only $600 USD + that $600 comes back to you as a credit when you book your wedding.
If you’re seriously considering Hyatt Ziva Cancun, this is the move. You and a guest get two nights all inclusive – your room, dining, food & beverage, live entertainment, the whole experience – plus an exclusive resort tour with the onsite wedding coordinator. You’ll see the venues in person, get a feel for the resort, and make a much more confident decision. And since the $600 goes toward your wedding when you sign your wedding contract with Hyatt Ziva, it essentially pays for itself.
A few things to know:
- The credit applies to a minimum $6,000 wedding program
- You’ll need to confirm your wedding contract and deposit within 90 days of your preview visit
- Offer valid through December 15, 2026

The Ceremony Venues
Hyatt Ziva has four ceremony locations. Here’s what you need to know about each one, including which packages they work with and where the extra fees come in.
Cliff Gazebo
Maximum 250 guests
The Cliff Gazebo is one of the favorite venues at Hyatt Ziva Cancun and sits dramatically on a cliffside above the water. It’s a classic white open air structure with panoramic Caribbean views. It’s available to Zama couples as your included ceremony location (subject to availability). For all other packages, it’s an upgrade but worth every dollar if this view is the vision.
Upgrade fees:
- Just for Two, Intimate Elegance, Lavish & Opulent: $3,000 USD. Available Monday through Wednesday only
- Luxury: $2,500 USD. Available any day of the week
Lighthouse Gazebo
Maximum 150 guests
One of our personal favorites. The Lighthouse Gazebo is a beautiful open air ceremony space with the resort’s iconic red and white lighthouse as your backdrop. This location is available with all five packages – Just for Two, Intimate Elegance, Lavish & Opulent, Luxury, and Zama with no upgrade fee. If you want a stunning setting without the extra cost, start here.
Turquoize Lawn
Maximum 200 guests
A lovely open air lawn ceremony space with gorgeous views. One important note: a gazebo structure is not included with this location, so if you want an arch or altar structure, you’ll need to add it. It’s a beautiful blank canvas that’s great for couples who want to bring their own floral or ceremony decor vision.
Sahara Beach
Maximum 250 guests
Toes in the sand, ocean in every direction. Sahara Beach is the classic destination wedding ceremony experience, and it’s stunning here. A few things to know going in: a federal beach fee applies based on your guest count (see the fee schedule below), no gazebo structure is included, and the beach has a curfew so events must end by 10 PM from December through March, and by 9 PM from April through November.
Beach Federal Fee Schedule:
- 1–30 guests: $500 USD
- 31–60 guests: $800 USD
- 61–90 guests: $1,200 USD
- 91–120 guests: $1,500 USD
- 121–140 guests: $1,800 USD
- 141+ guests: $2,100 USD
This fee applies to both the Sahara Beach ceremony and reception locations. We’ll factor it into your total budget from the start so there are no surprises.
The Reception Venues
Five distinct options, from an intimate fireside gathering to a grand ballroom. Here’s the breakdown.
Fire Pits by Mercado
Maximum 50 guests, Until 11 PM
Available with: Lavish & Opulent, Luxury, and Zama packages
Intimate, warm, and memorable. The Fire Pits area is a beachside gathering space with outdoor fire features and Caribbean ocean views perfect for a smaller group who wants something that feels more like a private social dinner party than a formal reception. If your guest count is under 50 and you want an atmosphere your people will talk about for years, this one deserves serious consideration.
Sky Terrace
Maximum 200 guests, Until 10 PM
Available with: Lavish & Opulent, Luxury, and Zama packages
An open air terrace with sweeping views of the ocean and the Cancun skyline. The Sky Terrace is bright, airy, and beautiful, and it photographs incredibly well. The 10 PM curfew is worth noting if you’re planning a long reception night, but for most groups it’s plenty of time. Alternatively, you can always move into a ballroom for an after party or to keep the reception going into the wee hours of the morning.
Roof Top Terrace
Maximum 200 guests, Until 11 PM
Available with: Lavish & Opulent, Luxury, and Zama packages
The Rooftop is the one that really delivers the “wow” factor. Unobstructed 360degree views, open sky, ocean in every direction. This is where the most dramatic sunset reception photos happen.
Upgrade fees:
- Zama: $1,000 USD to select this as your reception venue
- Lavish & Opulent and Luxury: $3,000 USD upgrade, available any day of the week
Sahara Beach
Maximum 250 guests, Until 10 PM (9 PM April – November)
Available with: Lavish & Opulent, Luxury, and Zama packages
Same stunning beach location as the ceremony option, but under the stars with dinner, dancing, and string lights. A beach reception at night is a completely different experience than the ceremony, and Hyatt Ziva does it beautifully. The federal fee applies here too (same schedule as above), so factor that into your planning. Curfew applies.
Ballroom
Maximum 250 guests, No curfew (additional hours billed separately)
Available with: Lavish & Opulent, Luxury, and Zama packages
The only venue with no curfew! This means the party goes as long as you want it to, as long as you’re paying for the extra hours. The ballroom is a full production space: high capacity and completely weatherproof. If you have a large guest count, want to go late, or are planning an elaborate production with lighting and staging, the ballroom is your best option.
Welcome Events - Because Your Wedding Is a Weekend
One thing we love about Hyatt Ziva Cancun is how many options there are for multiple event days. These group events are a fantastic way to bring everyone together before the big day, and the options are so fun. All require a minimum number of guests and a venue rental starting at $500 USD. Pricing below is per person plus 31% total tax and service fees.
Welcome Cocktail – $38.99 per guest
1 hour · Minimum 15 guests · Venue rental from $500 USD
A relaxed cocktail hour to kick off the wedding weekend. International open bar and a selection of 3 premium appetizers. Simple, elegant, and the perfect way to get everyone in the same place when they first arrive. This is a great time to hand out welcome bags, if you are planning for them. Speakers and other services available as add-ons.
Margaritas at Habaneros – $55.99 per guest
2 hours · Minimum 25 guests · Venue rental $500 USD
This one is a crowd pleaser every time. Your group gathers at Habaneros (the resort’s beachside bar) for 3 signature margaritas, a chips and salsa station, guacamole, pico de gallo, and Caribbean views. Background music included. Upgrade to a full open bar for $12 USD per person plus tax and service.
Taquito Night – $75.99 per guest
2 hours · Minimum 15 guests · Venue rental from $500 USD
A chef-attended taco station where everything is made fresh to order – fresh tortillas, sizzling fillings, handcrafted salsas. Beer and soda bar included. Upgrade to a full open bar for $12 USD per person plus tax and service. Chef attendant fee starts at $100 USD.
Short & Sweet – $86.99 per guest
2 hours · Minimum 25 guests · Venue rental from $500 USD
A full group dinner with a Mexican or BBQ buffet and open bar. This is the most complete welcome event option with a proper sit down meal that lets everyone relax, connect, and settle into vacation mode together. Chef attendant fee from $100 USD.
Photo & Video
Hyatt Ziva has an in-house photo and video team, and the packages are well structured to give you plenty of options. Here’s how to think about your options, and what we typically recommend based on what couples tell us they wish they’d done differently.
Our honest advice: don’t underestimate how fast the day goes. Most couples who book the shorter packages tell us afterward they wished they’d added more time. If the budget allows, go with more hours than you think you need.
All prices include tax. Photo coverage is continuous time.

What We Always Tell Our Couples Before They Book Hyatt Ziva
→ The 80% rule is a real thing and there are no exceptions to this, so plan your room block first.
At least 80% of your total wedding guests must stay on-site for a minimum of 3 nights. This isn’t optional and it shapes everything else. We will build your room block strategy before anything else gets locked in.
→ No outside vendors are permitted! Hyatt Ziva does not allow external vendors on property. Every service – photography, video, DJ, florals, A/V, hair & makeup – must be booked through the resort directly. This is important to know early, especially if you already have a photographer or entertainer in mind. The good news is the in-house teams are strong and the packages are well-structured.
→ The complimentary packages are great but they have conditions.
Just for the Two of You wedding package requires a 7 night stay in a qualifying room category. Intimate Elegance package requires 25 room nights combined. Both are only available Monday through Wednesday at 10AM if you choose the complimentary option. If your dates or room block don’t qualify, we’ll tell you upfront and show you what purchasing the package actually costs since there’s no reason to chase a free package if the math doesn’t work in your favor.
→ The beach is truly beautiful, but it’s going to cost you more.
The federal beach fee/permit is charged by the local government and it scales with your guest count, topping out at $2,100 USD for groups of 141+. It also comes with a curfew. Factor both into your planning before you fall in love with a beach ceremony or reception.
→ The venue upgrades are worth knowing about.
The Cliff Gazebo and the Rooftop Terrace are the two venues that generate the most “I had no idea that existed” reactions from our couples, and both have upgrade fees that aren’t always obvious upfront. We’ll make sure you know exactly what every venue costs before you commit to anything.
→ No matter what resort, those A/V& lightning costs add up, but it’s worth it.
Couples who skip sound and lighting upgrades almost always regret it. Budget for at least the Silver DJ Package if a reception with real dancing is part of the plan. It makes a bigger difference than almost any other add-on.
→ The Big Day Preview is the smartest first step if you have the time.
If you’re deciding between Hyatt Ziva and another resort, do the preview trip first. Two nights for $600, and that money comes back to you. There is no better way to make this decision than seeing it in person.
