Is Hotel Xcaret Worth It? 2026 Price Comparison
If you’ve ever looked up Hotel Xcaret México pricing and thought…
“Wait… is this resort REALLY worth that much?”
You are not alone.
Hotel Xcaret is one of the most talked-about all-inclusive resorts in Mexico – and can often feel like one of the most expensive.
But here’s the real question:
→ Is Hotel Xcaret worth it compared to other top all-inclusive resorts in Mexico?
To answer that, I pulled real room totals for the exact same travel dates and compared them side-by-side with two other major resorts couples and families often consider:
- Hyatt Ziva Cancun
- Moon Palace The Grand
And I included something most people forget…
✅ Airport transportation costs
Because that alone can change the math.

The Biggest Surprise: Hotel Xcaret Isn’t Always the Most Expensive
Most people assume Hotel Xcaret is automatically thousands more than other resorts.
But when you include airport transportation…
For 2 adults:
- Hotel Xcaret: $2,772
- Hyatt Ziva Cancun: $2,760
That’s only a $12 difference.
So the better question becomes:
→ What are you getting for that extra $12?
What’s Included at Hotel Xcaret (And Why It Costs More)
Hotel Xcaret México isn’t just an all-inclusive resort.
It’s what they call All-Fun Inclusive, meaning your price includes:
-
Luxury accommodations
-
Unlimited food & drinks (including top shelf liquors)
-
Roundtrip airport transportation
-
Unlimited access to Xcaret parks and excursions
-
Transportation to and from all parks
-
Food & drinks at all but one of the parks/excursions
That is a HUGE difference.
Most all-inclusive resorts include food and drinks. And that’s it.
Hotel Xcaret includes an entire adventure vacation layered on top.
Hotel Xcaret México: Who It’s Best For
True Total: $2,772
Hotel Xcaret is worth it if you want:
- More than just pools and restaurants
- Built-in adventures
- Eco-luxury design and wow-factor
- Parks, cenotes, shows, and excursions included
If you plan to actually use the parks, it becomes one of the best values in Mexico – because those experiences would cost hundreds separately at other resorts.
Best for:
✔ Couples who want a once-in-a-lifetime trip
✔ Families with kids or teens
✔ Guests who want resort + adventure in one
Hyatt Ziva Cancun: Who It’s Best For
- True Total (2 adults): $2,760
- True Total (family, 2 adults/2 kids): $3,138
Hyatt Ziva is a favorite because it offers:
- Prime beachfront location in Cancun’s Hotel Zone
- Upscale, modern feel
- Great service and dining
- A more traditional luxury all-inclusive experience
But once you add even one child, the price jumps significantly.
Best for:
✔ Adults-only style couples trip (even though kids are allowed)
✔ Travelers who want Cancun convenience
✔ Guests not planning lots of offsite excursions
Moon Palace The Grand: Who It’s Best For
True Total: $2,376 (both options!)
Moon Palace The Grand is the clear winner on price here.
Even after transportation, it’s nearly:
- $400 less than Xcaret
- $760 less than Hyatt Ziva for a family with just 1 child
This is a mega-resort tailored towards American & Canadian tourists with:
- Tons of onsite activities
- Big family-friendly energy
- Waterpark-style fun
- Great value for the cost
Best for:
✔ Families who want the most bang for their buck
✔ Guests who plan to stay onsite the whole trip
✔ Groups looking for lower total cost with lots of on site restaurants
So… Is Hotel Xcaret Worth It?
Here’s my honest take:
YES! Hotel Xcaret is 100% worth it when:
- You want more than a standard all-inclusive
- You’ll take advantage of even one park or excursion
- You value airport transfers being included
- You want the most unique and beautiful resort experience in Mexico
- You love amazing Mexican food from the many regions of Mexico
When you compare apples-to-apples, Hotel Xcaret is basically the same cost as Hyatt Ziva for adults – but offers far more beyond the resort.
Maybe NOT – if your goal is simply the lowest price
If you want an all-inclusive vacation and don’t care about parks or excursions…
Moon Palace Grand gives you the best deal of these three top family friendly resort options by far.
Cheryl’s Take (From Someone Who Has Been to Hotel Xcaret 40+ Times)
Here’s what I’ve learned:
Hotel Xcaret isn’t for everyone.
If you’re the kind of traveler who flies to Mexico, parks yourself by the pool for three days, and never leaves the resort, you probably don’t need it. You’re still going to love it! But if cost is a concern, look at other americanized resort options.
But if you love:
- exploring
- incredible food from different regions of Mexico
- unique architecture and natural beauty
- built-in adventure without planning logistics
- and the feeling of being completely taken care of from airport pickup to departure
Then there is truly nothing else like it.
When people see the price, they sometimes compare it to a standard all-inclusive.
That’s the mistake.
Hotel Xcaret isn’t just a resort. It’s a resort + excursion package + transportation + curated experiences – all rolled into one.
And when you compare it properly (like we just did), it’s barely more than Hyatt Ziva for adults – and actually less than Hyatt Ziva for a family with one child.
So is Hotel Xcaret worth it?
For the right traveler?
Absolutely.
It’s one of the most unique and immersive resort experiences in Mexico – and when you use even one of the parks, the value becomes very clear.
