This breathtaking chapel sits 148 feet above ground, at the top of a pyramid structure, uniting Hotel Xcaret Mexico (family-friendly) and Hotel Xcaret Arte (adults-only). With ocean views on one side and jungle views on the other, it perfectly embodies the beauty of the Riviera Maya. Nothing beats this absolutely stunning Catholic Chapel.

Description
Set within the beautiful Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres property, this modern glass-front chapel sits beside tranquil lagoons and tropical gardens. Guests can reach it easily by golf cart, and its design allows sunlight to pour through during the ceremony.

Atelier Playa Mujeres – Chapel of San José
Description
The unique Catholic Chapel at Atelier Playa Mujeres is set away from all the foot traffic and busyness of the resort and has a jungle view on 3 sides of the chapel.
This is the only exclusively adults-only resort that has a Catholic chapel on site, making this 5-star property a great option for those that would prefer an adults-only experience (16 years old and up are allowed). At Atelier Playa Mujeres, you and your guests will never run out of dining options, great pools, entertainment, or beachfront. There’s also an 18-hole Greg Norman designed golf course on-site, for those that love to hit the links.
Why We Love It
- Perfect for couples wanting an adults only experience but may have some guests just under 18
- Gorgeous modern architecture and greenery backdrop
- Exceptional food, service, and resort style — ideal for luxury seekers but without the luxury price tag
What We Don’t Love About It:
High outside vendor fees: Atelier Playa Mujeres charges a $3,000 USD fee per vendor for any outside photography or videography team.
- Applies even to on-site guests: This fee is required even if your photographers or videographers are part of your wedding room block and staying at the resort.
- In-house requirement: The only way to avoid the fee is to use the resort’s in-house photo and video team.
- Notoriously strict: Atelier is known for being very inflexible about this policy.
- Bottom line: It’s the highest outside vendor fee of any resort we’ve encountered.

The Catholic Chapel at Dreams Tulum
Description
The Catholic Chapel at Dreams Tulum is the perfect chapel for a smaller wedding, due to its petite interior and rustic Mexican charm. The chapel itself is situated in the plaza of an old “Mexican village”, located within the resort, and has a very old world Mexican flair.
Dreams Tulum is a family-friendly beachfront property and is one of the few all-inclusive properties in the Tulum area. The resort is very private, since there are no other resorts nearby, so you will feel like you’re tucked away from it all. Besides the chapel, there are a number of event locations at this resort – the long gorgeous beach, a secret hidden garden gazebo, pool terraces, a sprawling lawn, indoor ballrooms, a Mexican plaza, and even a rooftop location!
Why We Love It
- Beautiful, authentic Mexican design in a lush environment
- Quiet location in a somewhat secluded area
- Great option for smaller groups seeking tradition
What We Don’t Love About It:
- Dreams Tulum is nearly a 2 hour drive from the Cancun airport, so this is something to keep in mind, as it takes quite a while to get here. On the flip side, due to the price and distance from the airport, guests are more inclined to stay 4 or more nights, which allows you more time to hang out with friends and family.
- Dreams Tulum is not actually in Tulum, but still another 20 – 30 minute drive to the main areas of Tulum that travelers normally want to visit. This is a fairly remote resort but can be great for couples with guests on a tight budget, but the couple still want to host their small Catholic wedding in Mexico.
- This property is getting quite old and could certainly use a refresh. It prices in line with what you can expect for a budget resort.

Dreams Sapphire Riviera Cancun – Our Lady of Izamal Catholic Chapel
Description
The Our Lady of Izamal Catholic chapel at Dreams Sapphire is one of just a couple of natural open-air palapa chapels at an all-inclusive resort in the area. It’s tucked away amidst the palm trees, so the view is all jungle.
Dreams Sapphire Cancun went through a large remodel a couple years ago and now has some updated rooms, new villas, a new waterpark, and new wedding reception venues.
Why We Love It
- Great budget-focused resort for wedding groups with a mix of age groups & budgets, since there are lots of room types and price ranges
- Something to do for all ages – from kids clubs to nightclubs
- There are many venue options for your reception
What We Don’t Love About It
- The seaweed! Unfortunately, the beach at this resort is plagued with seaweed during sargassum season each year and the smell can be quite unpleasant.
- Rooms in the older sections of the resort – The new suites and Villas are beautiful and brand new but rooms in the old sections of the resort can be hit or miss depending on how updated they are, even in PC (Preferred Club) category rooms.

Up to 50 guests inside the Our Lady of Izamel chapel, with options for an overflow of guests outside the chapel, of up to 100 additional guests.

Moon Palace Cancun – Catholic Chapel of the Immaculate Conception
Description
The Catholic Chapel at Moon Palace Cancun is a round indoor pavilion (air-conditioned) with 360 degrees of glass windows, which gives you an amazing view of the ocean and surrounding green space and gardens. The location of the chapel is super convenient since it gives you the option to host your cocktail hour and/or reception on the beach or garden spaces that are connected to the Catholic Chapel area.
This resort complex has nearly 2,400 rooms, so you can have a HUGE event here and still have plenty of space! Due to its size, there are a ton of restaurants and bars, a massive swimming pool complex, a huge beautiful spa, and a 27 hole Jack Nicklaus signature golf course.
Why We Love It
- Moon Palace Cancun probably has more perks for wedding groups than any other resort we know of – see the “Perks!” section below for more details.
- Night club for adults and dedicated kids and teens clubs. Moon Palace Cancun is perfect for family groups of all ages since there is something to do here, no matter your age.
- It’s one of the closest beach resorts to the Cancun airport (just a 10-minute drive) so your guests won’t have to spend a ton of travel time wasted getting to the resort.
What We Don’t Love About It

Significant service issues during the planning process – the lack of consistent responses are enough to make anyone think twice about having a wedding here. Though this is still, in our opinion, a great resort for a wedding group due to the significant freebies offered, you MUST go into the planning process very laid back with low expectations of the planning experience.

The room blocking situation is a bit frustrating – They will only start your block with the lowest category of room at a guaranteed price, so if you or any of your guests want other room categories, the rate can change at any moment. due to this we highly recommend that if any of your guests want something other than a simple garden Suite that they booked their rooms immediately once your room block is open, to have the best availability and rates.

No. Many are “symbolic” chapels only. A true Catholic chapel must be consecrated and approved by a local parish for Mass and sacraments.
